April 2005 Ministry Momentum

Dear Friends and Partners of HCAW,

We are excited to share the April Ministry Momentum with you. His Church at Work has been blessed to see many churches committed to helping working believers focus their relational energy at work toward God's agenda. This is critical considering that our work lives are 50% + of our waking hours and the place where we have the majority of our relationship influence. HCAW is continuing to help the Body of Christ become truly relevant to a modern culture bent on finding meaning outside of a relationship with Jesus Christ.

HCAW is a movement of like-minded churches committed to an Ephesians 4:12 discipleship process - equipping their members to walk well with God at work and effectively expand Kingdom influence to their coworkers and places of work assignment. We are excited to report many significant developments in our progress of empowering churches for WorkLife Ministry around the country. We have detailed a few below this month for your review. The Church is making sustainable progress in this area.

We desire to express our sincere appreciation for your partnership and prayers. Thank you from our entire staff.

Here to serve you and your church,
Doug Spada, Founder - His Church at Work

BIG NEWS - BOTTOM-LINE IMPACT FOR ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERS SHOWN IN CHURCH-BASED WORKLIFE MINISTRY RESEARCH FINDINGS
As we shared in our March update Dr. Mark Walker, senior pastor at Mt. Paran North Church of God in Marietta, GA, whose church is a member of the HCAW Network,Doctoral Research Study just finished a partnership in a doctoral study at Regent University and the results are BIG NEWS for Organizational Leaders (Corporate, Civic, Non-profit). The excitement is around the empirical evidence on the impact of the HCAW church-based WorkLife Ministry process in areas of job satisfaction, organizational commitment and equipping satisfaction. In this 258-page dissertation, churches that have practiced HCAW WorkLife Ministry Principles, Training, and Processes over time were studied and surveyed. This group was compared to a test group of similar churches that have NOT intentionally addressed members' work lives in this way. Of particular importance to Organizational Leaders, the results show church members had increases in Job Satisfaction and Commitment to Their Employers, which provides them with incentive to support Church-based WorkLife Ministries in local churches that their employees attend.

Highlights from the research include members of churches with HCAW's WorkLife Ministry process had a/an:

Ø Increase in Job Satisfaction (translates into higher productivity and organizational effectiveness)

Ø Increase in Commitment to their Employers (reduces turnover)

Ø 58% increase in overall satisfaction with their church

Ø 168% increase in satisfaction with their church equipping

HOSANNA WORKLIFE MINISTRY LAUNCHES CHRISTIAN EMPLOYEE RESOURCE GROUPS
resource bookletAfter His Church at Work training and launching their church-wide WorkLife Ministry, Bill Farrell, WorkLife Director at Hosanna Lutheran Church has received multiple requests from church members working in various Twin Cities corporations for help in starting Christian Employee Resource Groups. Bill, who was introduced to Christ in the workplace, established over 50 Christian Employee Resource Groups at his previous employer, Medtronic Corporation. This was one of the largest employee workplace fellowships in the nation. Now as a part of Hosanna's WorkLife ministry he is using his expertise to help Hosanna members begin the process of establishing Resource Groups at their workplace and accelerating worklife intercessory prayer support for Hosanna members. Look for more on this as HCAW uses this employee group and prayer model to help other churches across the nation. Bill is a key part of HCAW's intercessory prayer team. Great job, Bill.

WORKLIFE UNIVERSITY™ LAUNCHES "WorkLife Expansion Forum"
His Church at Work is continuing to broaden the ongoing support and assistance to help mature and expand the WorkLife Ministry within our network of churches. So in addition to our existing support, in April 2005 we launched the monthly WorkLife Expansion Forum, where Pastors and WorkLife Directors from around the country can:

Ø Hear what is working in churches that are having exceptional blessing in foundational and expansion areas.

Ø Experience a venue for peer fellowship, accountability, prayer support.

Ø Be inspired, encouraged and equipped to more fully experience the many ways that God is working.

Ø Learn new tactics and techniques that are working around the country.

All this is part of WorkLife University's "graduate expansion offerings" as we provide continuing education and support to develop effective church-based WorkLife Ministries for small and large churches. Thank you to Ginger Johnson who is a lead trainer in the WorkLife University.
